Brad & Lisa Waggoner of Cold Nose College have been selected as speakers at the first annual Force-Free Education Summit for Pet Professionals hosted by the Pet Professional Guild (PPG). The conference will be held in Tampa, Florida November 11-13, 2015. The goals of this Summit are to help support and build communication and networking opportunities with the veterinary community and veterinary educators, to build awareness of PPG as a first class organization, to build a stronger collaboration of force-free pet professionals and to provide a highly interactive and fun educational format to all who attend. Dr. Karen Overall, MA, VMD, PhD, DACVB, CAAB will be the Key Note Speaker for the Summit and will be presenting “From Leashes to Neurons: Humane Behavioral Care of Dogs and will include: the dog brain in evolution and daily life; the neurobiology of reactivity and stress; assessing behavior – what does testing tell us?; and no fear-redefining humane behavioral care”.
Lisa & Brad will be presenting “Dog Speak – What’s Your Dog Telling You?” in a 2 hour session on Friday, November 13. Through Lecture, photos and videos, Lisa and Brad will share information about dog body language and ritualization to help the audience understand the species’ normal and natural communication signals, which include stress signals, appeasement and deference signals, fear signals and play signals. When one learns and understands what a dog’s body is “saying” one is able to better interrupt a situation, change the environment or remove the dog from the environment in order to reduce or eliminate the stress the dog may be experiencing in a given situation. The presentation is intended for all audience groups – shelter/rescue volunteers and employees, dog trainers, dog walkers, dog hobbyists, dog owners, day care owners/workers, groomers and anyone who loves dogs.
The conference is open to members and non-members and you may attend for one day or all days. For further information or to register for the conference http://www.petprofessionalguild.com/Summit-Registration
